Install Alambic

Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Microsoft Word, only to convert DOCX, DOC, ODT, RTF or TXT documents, and to turn a PDF into DOCX.
ffmpeg and yt-dlp come with the installer, nothing else to install.
Install
Section titled “Install”- Download
Alambic-Setup-x.y.z.exefrom the Releases page. - Run the installer. Alambic is not signed, so Windows shows Windows protected your PC: click More info, then Run anyway.
- Open Alambic and drag files or folders into the window. You can also right-click a file in File Explorer and choose Convertir avec Alambic.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”From version 0.2.0, Alambic downloads its updates in the background and offers to restart to install them.
Version 0.1.0 had no updater: install 0.2.0 once by hand, updates are automatic after that.
AI models
Section titled “AI models”Four tools use an AI model that runs on your computer: automatic subtitles, upscaling, background removal and voice/music separation. The first time, click Télécharger in the tool’s section to download its model, once, into %APPDATA%\alambic.
- Downloads weigh 45 to 574 MB. For subtitles, you choose between Rapide (148 MB) and Précis (574 MB), plus a 1 MB file.
- The upscaling, background removal and separation files are checked by their SHA-256 fingerprint after download. The subtitle models are not.
