I saved my template but my invoices still look the same
Section titled “I saved my template but my invoices still look the same”Two things are needed. The template must be the one chosen for its document type (Choose in the template list), and the document must be generated with Empreinte in the Doc template drop-down. Then click Generate again: PDFs already generated never change on their own. See Use it on your documents.
Empreinte does not appear in the Doc template drop-down
Section titled “Empreinte does not appear in the Doc template drop-down”Check that the module is enabled in Setup → Modules/Applications. If it is, switch it off and on again: this registers the template for the five document types again.
Can I print my own fields, such as vehicle brand, model or engine?
Section titled “Can I print my own fields, such as vehicle brand, model or engine?”Yes, from version 24.4.0, with the Label + value field block, for the fields of the document and of its customer. See Show your own fields. With an older version, type the information in the public note and use the Public note block.
The printed labels (Invoice, Due date…) are in the wrong language
Section titled “The printed labels (Invoice, Due date…) are in the wrong language”The words printed by Empreinte come from Dolibarr’s own translations and, for the table column titles, from Empreinte’s (English, French and German), in the language of the PDF. When several languages are enabled in Dolibarr, a language drop-down appears next to Doc template in the Linked files area: pick the language there before clicking Generate. It defaults to the language set on the customer’s card. In German, an invoice prints Rechnung, Fälligkeitsdatum, Bruttosumme and so on.
Texts you type yourself (free texts, labels of Label + value fields, footer) print as typed, whatever the language.
Some names in the workshop are in French
Section titled “Some names in the workshop are in French”Up to version 24.3.0, several block and setting names were not translated. Upgrade to 24.4.0 or later, which is fully translated into English and German. For older versions, the block reference gives the former French name of each block in brackets.
The bank details or the QR code do not print
Section titled “The bank details or the QR code do not print”Both print only for a payment by bank transfer (or with no payment method), with the Banks & Cash module enabled, and when a bank account is set on the document or as the default account for invoices. The QR code also needs an IBAN on that account and an unpaid invoice. See Bank details and Payment QR code.
What prints on the second page of a long document?
Section titled “What prints on the second page of a long document?”When the lines do not fit on one page, the line table continues on the next pages with its header row repeated, along with the watermark and the page numbers. Totals, payment terms, public note and free texts placed after the table (vertical position 0) follow its last line. When they would reach the footer, they move together to the top of a new page. Up to version 24.4.0, they were not moved and could overlap the footer: with that version, leave enough room above the footer. The other blocks (logo, addresses, title, footer) print on the first page.
Can I print the fields of the lines or of the products?
Section titled “Can I print the fields of the lines or of the products?”No. The Label + value field block shows the complementary attributes of the document and of its customer only. Attributes of lines or products (for example the brand of a vehicle sold as a product) are not offered. To print such information, add a complementary attribute to the document itself and fill it in there.
Does the “On PDF” option of a complementary attribute matter?
Section titled “Does the “On PDF” option of a complementary attribute matter?”No. That Dolibarr option is used by the built-in templates. With Empreinte, you choose which fields to print yourself, by placing a Label + value field block for each one.
Can I use substitution variables such as {object_ref} or __REF__ in a free text?
Section titled “Can I use substitution variables such as {object_ref} or __REF__ in a free text?”No. Free texts are printed exactly as typed. To print a value from the document, use a Label + value field block and pick the value in Displayed value.
Does Empreinte print the Swiss QR-bill (QR-Rechnung)?
Section titled “Does Empreinte print the Swiss QR-bill (QR-Rechnung)?”Yes, from version 24.5.0, with the Swiss QR-bill (invoices) block. It follows the SIX guidelines version 2.4, with structured addresses and headings in the language of the PDF. See Swiss QR-bill.
Can I use a different template for each customer?
Section titled “Can I use a different template for each customer?”No. One template is used per document type at a time. You can keep several and switch between them with Choose in the template list.
Can I copy a template?
Section titled “Can I copy a template?”Yes. Click Duplicate on its line in the template list. The copy is named Copy of … and can be renamed in the workshop.
Does the preview change my documents?
Section titled “Does the preview change my documents?”No. PDF preview saves the template, then builds a temporary PDF on your most recent document of that type. The PDF attached to that document is not replaced.
Can I change the order in which blocks overlap?
Section titled “Can I change the order in which blocks overlap?”Frames and rules are always printed behind the other blocks. Totals, payment terms, public note and free texts are printed last, on top. The other blocks overlap in the order they were added. This order cannot be changed from the workshop yet.
Are formatted line descriptions kept?
Section titled “Are formatted line descriptions kept?”Not yet. Descriptions are printed as plain text: bold, colours and lists from the Dolibarr editor are not reproduced.
Can I set the height of the logo?
Section titled “Can I set the height of the logo?”The logo always keeps its proportions: it fits inside the width and height of its block. With a height of 0, the height follows the width.
Does Empreinte work with Factur-X electronic invoices?
Section titled “Does Empreinte work with Factur-X electronic invoices?”Yes, from version 24.2.1. Modules that add the Factur-X XML to the invoice PDF, such as DolifacturX, work with Empreinte templates as with the built-in ones.
Which document types are covered?
Section titled “Which document types are covered?”Quotations (commercial proposals), sales orders, invoices (including credit notes and deposit invoices), shipments and interventions. Supplier documents are not covered.
